IMG_0081Welcome. I was inspired to take up dog training when Mally the whippet came into my life 5 years ago. I grew up with dogs in my family and felt a real affinity with these loyal and loving creatures however I also saw that without proper attention and education problems occurred causing distress to people and to dogs and getting in the way of a joyful and supportive relationship developing between human and animal.

I really wanted to enjoy my relationship with Mally and I knew it would be a challenge adopting an adult dog who had lived in quite stressful conditions and also for me to change my habits and routines to ones that supported her and me. My background is in creative writing, education, horticulture and horticultural therapy; I now work as an artist and dog trainer. I am currently studying canine behaviour and training, and animal communication. I have completed the Association of Pet Dog Trainers Foundation Course. Think Dog Practical and Think Dog Canine Behaviour Course with Sarah Whitehead as well as volunteering with Halifax RSPCA and local puppy training classes. I have also completed an animal communication workshop with Pea Horsley.

I work mainly with owners and support them to relate differently with their dogs. I am interested in the relationship between people and their dogs and dogs and their people. I see dogs as unique gifts that come into our lives to teach us something or show us how to be more of ourselves or to change in some way which supports our becoming more whole and connected. Our relationship with dogs can support us to get to know our own inner animal and work with the wild and the domestic aspects inside ourselves. I have worked with people to find their perfect dog, get their home and family ready for puppy to come home, I’ve worked with adult rescue dogs and family pets. I have also supported people in difficult circumstances to rehome their dog so that both parties have the best quality of life possible. I am also interested in working with people who have lost their dog or animal companions and need support coming to terms with this and processing their grief and feelings about this loss.
